Working with Children and Families in Poverty

Individuals trapped in the cycle of generational poverty think and act differently from members of middle and upper socio-economic classes. Economic class differences often makes communication challenging. Overcoming these obstacles is often a constant hurdle. Working with Children and Families in Poverty educates organizations about the thinking process of those engaged in generational poverty so that effective solutions can be determined.

Better Choices

F.A.C.E.S., Inc. offers a curriculum for working with children and parents of children who are currently involved in the juvenile justice system. F.A.C.E.S., Inc. recognizes that people live in parallel cultures that are indescribably different. Those leaving correctional programs often become distracted by unhealthy relationships and other issues and fail to make successful transitions into society. Better Choices uses a curriculum involving decision making skills. Through one-on-one contact with participants, mentors will help prepare clients for a successful transition toward becoming a productive member of society. We believe a person’s situation can change, however, they may never reach their potential if they do not receive effective intervention. We offer that opportunity.

F.A.C.E.S., Inc. seeks to change this repeated cycle of correctional involvement by teaching participants how to affect change through better decision making skills.
